Is This a Good Time to Buy?
I am currently working with a handful of families looking for homes in both Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. Here are a few items to keep in mind as you consider buying in this current market.
* You "marry the price, but date the rate." You can consider an ARM and refinance when the rates do come down (and they will).
*Rents are continuing to rise each year, typically around 2-3%/year.
*Once the Fed signals an end to the rate hikes, the pent-up demand will flood the market with more buyers.
*There is currently less competition on most homes, thereby perhaps providing an opportunity to get into contract on a home.
*Some sellers may be more willing to negotiate given the current market conditions.
*Renovation costs have continued to stay high due to inflation and supply constraints. Consider a home that has had a price reduction that may meet your needs.
